Founder & Executive Director
With a successful career in Business Development, Kim Hinkle’s own life experiences propelled her in a different direction leading her to co‐found Journey to Dream in 2004, an organization that to date haspositively impacted hundreds of thousands of young people in North Texas.
Kim’s work with teens started well before Journey to Dream. She has served as a youth leader, missions coordinator and board/coalition member for organizations such as Rainbow Days, the Betty Ford Children’s Program, Lewisville Independent School District Safe & Drug Free Schools Program (CHOICES), Denton County Human Trafficking Coalition and the Drug Endangered Child Coalition. Kim graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Marketing. She resides in Carrollton with her children and currently serves as Executive Director for Journey to Dream.
Jessica Peters joined Journey to Dream in 2013 as Program Director and is responsible for overseeing the organization's support programs which includes JTD's curriculum‐based school groups, and outreach assemblies. She also coordinates and manages the volunteer processes.
Prior to this she worked as a Program Director for a teen drop‐in center for homeless and at risk youth in Lewisville, TX, called Denton County Youth Today. Passionate about teen homelessness, Jessica also worked at a teen shelter in Los Angeles, California as Direct Care staff.
Jessica earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of North Texas in 2013 with a minor in counseling.
LMSW, Program Administrator/Clinical Coordinator
As a graduate from Texas A&M Commerce in 2015 with a Masters degree in Social Work, Christy has amassed significant experience in the field. She interned in the Plano Independent School District facilitating groups and meeting with individual youth at a Title 1 Elementary and Alternative school as well as acting as a resource/case manager at City House transitional living program and emergency shelter, where she was later employed.
As Technical Advisor and Enrichment Specialist at YMCA SAS services, Christy was responsible for new hire training, curriculum implementation and ensuring that multiple locations met the requirements for licensing. Christy also worked as a House Manager at Next Step Living, a home serving girls ages 16 – 21. Christy currently serves as Program and Clinical Coordinator at Journey to Dream.
CPA, MBA – Director of Operations
With over 20 years of accounting, management and executive experience, Anita has worked for both public and private companies in Controller and CFO roles. She has extensive experience with small‐to-midsize private companies establishing processes, procedures, and controls designed to support hyper growth.
Her industry experience ranges from manufacturing with Nestle, USA; staffing with Perot Systems; healthcare recruiting with The Delta Companies; oilfield services at Coffman Tank Trucks, Inc; and accounting outsourcing for Supporting Strategies. Her skills cover the full spectrum of accounting including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, cash flow forecasting, and fixed asset management. She has created business plans, managed government tax audits as well as annual financial audits, and has been instrumental in several private company sales to third parties.
Anita earned her BS in Accounting from Maryville University and her Executive MBA from the University of North Texas. She is a CPA licensed in the State of Texas and currently serves as Director of Operations for Journey to Dream.
